The Green Paint Society Signup is Officially Open!

This week was a big milestone for me. I launched my membership program - The Green Paint Society. I’m so overcome with gratitude and appreciation for all the people who have already signed up since yesterday.

It feels pretty vulnerable to launch a new endeavor like this. Especially one that I’ve been working on for so long. Those of you who have signed up have put my mind at ease. You’ve made me feel like I have a voice worth hearing, so thank you for that!

So what does this mean for my blog? Nothing will change here. I’ll continue to post public weekly articles every Wednesday as I always do. However, I’ll also be sharing bonus content on The Green Paint Society homepage in the form of articles and guides. This bonus content will offer more insider tips & tricks than I would usually share on my blog. I hope to make these posts more personal too, since that kind of information is easier to share with a smaller audience. Also, every month, I’ll be focusing on a new theme.

My themed monthly post includes:

  • A Video Lecture from Me

  • 4 Sketchbook Prompts

  • 4 Journal Prompts

  • An Assignment

  • Fun Online Finds

My thinking behind these themes is that we can focus on improving in one area of our art every month. The themes will line up with the time of year, because I’ve personally experienced how seasonal art is. Every month brings a different energy to our art. After many months of doing this, I can’t imagine how exponential our growth will be as artists. The themes will alternate between technique-based and more broader subjects, like finding inspiration, which is this month’s theme. This month, I’m sharing how I find inspiration and my favorite sources for ideas. Even just by putting this content together, I’ve learned so much as an artist. I’m doing all the work alongside my GPS members in order to keep growing as an artist as well.

So who is the GPS for? Any artist who feels stuck and wants to grow. My goal is for it to serve as an education program, while also building a creative community. Art can be isolating, and it’s nice to know other artists are struggling with the same things we are. You don’t need to be an illustrator or a gouache artist to join. The content is broad enough to serve any artist working in any medium. It also works for beginner and expert artists alike. The content is for those who work as artists full-time (like me), as well as those who simply like to make art in their spare time.

What are my plans for the GPS in the future? To be totally honest, I have no idea. I’m expecting the shape of the content will change as I receive feedback from members, and figure out what works through trial and error. My goal is to make the content worth much more than the cost of a $5.99 latte - what my subscribers are paying. That is my number one priority.

To answer a few other questions you may have…

How does signup work?

You signup here, where you pay $5.99 and create a username and password. The payment will repeat monthly. Once logged in, you will not need to re-login every time you want to access the content. All you need to do is click the bolded “Green Paint Society” in my navigation, and the content will appear.

Why not Patreon?

I decided to use the “Membership Area” function of my Squarespace website, because I have more control over the look and feel of the content. I like how members can easily access other pages of my website, like my blog and portfolio, all in one place.

What if I want to cancel?

You can cancel at any time by clicking “Manage Account” in the footer of my GPS homepage.

What do I need to get started?

You’ll simply need a sketchbook for the sketchbook and journal prompts. I like to keep a separate journal, but you don’t have to. Also whatever art materials you like to use.

Thank you again to those of you who have already signed up! I’ve done a little happy dance for every single “new member e-mail” I’ve gotten. I feel so supported and loved. I really do have the best readers and fans! If you haven’t signed up yet and have any questions for me about the program, let me know in the comments below. I’ll try to answer your questions as soon as I can.

I hope to see you there!
