Our Baby Nursery

My parents helping us put up the wall mural. Special thanks to my dad who made this project look like a piece of cake!

As a positive distraction, I started working on our baby’s nursery pretty early on in our pregnancy. The room is actually my old studio space, right down the hall from my current space. Since the gender is a surprise, I tried to choose a neutral theme. I landed on woodland/Peter Rabbit-themed decor, with an emphasis on greens - my favorite color. I wanted to incorporate a vintage feel as well. One of the best finds for the nursery was a vintage dresser I discovered at a local resale shop for $180.00. What a steal! Everything else was purchased new, aside from a few vintage accessories to fill the bookshelves.

All the walls in our home are neutral colors, so we didn’t need to paint. However, we enlisted the help of my parents to put up a peel and stick mural - something to serve as a focal point in the space. Ryan and I aren’t good at these types of things, but they sure are. Thanks to their precision, it turned out great.

Of course, I had to put my stamp on the space by hanging up some of my own art. I painted two swan paintings on black as a focal point, and then I blew up my Central Park Zoo seals print to add some interest to our chair nook.

I recently shared a full house tour with the members of my Green Paint Society, if you’re interested in joining to check that out!
