*Weekly Update*

I’m going to keep this post short and sweet, because my #30homeobjects series is the main focus these days. It’s only day 14 today, and I can already see how much I’ve improved. In my experience, a 30 day series gets toughest around the Day 7 mark, and then there’s a steady incline in ease from there. There’ve been many days where I don’t feel like painting, but once I sit down, the inspiration always comes. That’s my best advice to beginner artists. Forget about painting daily. Just get good at sitting down at your desk on a regular basis. Once you do that, it’s pretty tough not to paint.

Here are my paintings from the last week:

All are available as prints in my Etsy shop for purchase if you’re interested. My personal favorite from this batch is the crayons. Crayons hold such great memories for me growing up. I have an emotional attachment to the piece that can’t really be matched by the others.

Besides my series, my recent focus has been on my newsletter. I took an Instagram poll as to what type of content you’d all like to see, and that gave me some great direction. I’m hoping to nail down a final design soon so I can send out my first newsletter this month. If you aren’t subscribed yet, you can subscribe here.

What else is new in my life? Well, I’ve been very into the new show on Discovery Plus called The Established Home, featuring interior designer Jean Stoffer. I love the way Jean approaches design. My taste is slightly more eclectic than hers, but otherwise her style is pretty spot on with what I love. I just can’t get enough of her gorgeous interiors. Ryan and I have also been into the new season of Cobra Kai, trying to make the episodes last as long as possible.

I wrapped up the books I was reading last week - Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Effortless by Greg McKeown. I got lucky in that both were awesome reads. Effortless especially was the perfect read, given all that’s happening around us right now. It gives a great blueprint for how to navigate difficult times, and simplify your life to focus on what matters. I just started The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. So far I’m super intrigued, but I’ll let you know how I like it.

In other exciting news, Ryan and I joined the Tesla family this week. We’d been on a year-long waiting list for a new SUV, and it finally came in Wednesday evening. It drives great. The biggest things I’ve noticed are that the cabin is super quiet, and you don’t feel any bumps on the road - almost as if you’re gliding on ice. We prematurely got rid of one of our cars when we ordered it, not knowing how long the wait would be. Needless to say, it’s great to have two cars again after a year of only having one.

Well, that’s about all that’s new here. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! I’m going to spend the weekend taking down our Christmas decorations :)
