Bio

Profession: Illustrator & Designer | Location: Leicester, England

Chloe Hall is a talented print and pattern designer who owns her own stationary business Chloe Hall Illustration. She lives and works out of her houseboat (how cool is that?!), so she’s constantly surrounded by nature. That would explain how she creates such inspiring botanical illustrations. Chloe has a passion for nature preservation, so all of her products are made from materials that are good for the environment. You can find her products in shops all over the world. They can also be purchased on her website.

What Inspires Your Work?

Nature and being outdoors definitely inspires me the most! Even if I don't see anything I'd like to draw while I'm outside I find just going for a walk or spending time outside really motivates me.

What Are Your Favorite Mediums And Tools To Use?

I love using watercolours and gouache paints. I also love creating really loose line work with my fine liners! Mixing the two to create patterns is also something I really enjoy doing.

What Is One Word You Would Use To Describe Your Studio Space?

At the moment I work from my bedroom, my desk is pretty small! But me and my partner are currently renovating our first house, and there's a whole room waiting to become a studio, so once we are in there I'm hoping the one word I can use is...organised!

What Is Your Favorite Thing About Your Studio Space?

At the moment as I work from my bedroom on a narrowboat, I love being so close to nature. It's also a really quiet place to work so I feel like I can really concentrate and stay focused while working.

What Are Three Items In Your Workspace That You Can’t Live Without?

Definitely my paints, my laptop and sketchbooks!

What Does A Day In The Life Look Like For You? What Are Your Daily Habits?

I work part time 3 days a week, so during the days when I work in the daytime, I'll get home and check my emails and pack any orders. I try my best to keep my 2 free days a week free to focus on commissions and personal work. On my days to concentrate on my illustration, I always start with emails and a post office run, but as no two days are the same due to commissions and other projects going on, it does vary day to day.

How Do You Practice Self-Care Throughout The Day?

I make sure that if I feel like I need a break, I take one. If I'm really struggling I'll nip out, for a walk or even just nip to the shop or post office. I often find when I get back I feel so much more motivated and ready to carry on with the day.

How Do You Store Your Artwork?

At the moment, it is all stored in boxes per product type. All my worded greeting cards are together, all my plain greeting cards, prints are boxed per size etc. When I get in my new studio in the house I've got a plan to have racking and a proper system in order of my wholesale catalogue so it's easy to pick and pack orders!
