Art Studio Organization Hacks

All artists are messy. Fact or common misconception?

From your responses on Instagram, it seems like a lot of you struggle with keeping tidy workspaces. Me too. I would argue that the issue stems more from the quantity of supplies, than from being disorganized. Haha well maybe it’s a little bit of both!

For artists, style is just as important as functionality. That’s why I’ve put together a list of my favorite beautiful organization hacks:

Wood Silverware Organizer

This is perfect for storing all your paint brushes, pens, pencils, markers, and erasers. Since these organizers are flat, you can store them in any drawer.

Small Bins

Perfect for storing mailing envelopes and art prints. I like these small enough, so they fit on a shelf.

End Table

If you have a printer in your studio, placing it on a table makes all the difference. You don’t want to waste precious tabletop space for this monstrosity. Also, an end table keeps it more out of sight.

Archival Storage Boxes

I have one for every year, and I file my artwork away every week. I place my artwork in archival plastic sleeves, and then in the boxes. This keeps everything protected for years to come.

Glass Jewelry Boxes

These are perfect for storing push pins, paperclips, rubber bands, and even stickers or business cards. Plus, they look great on a shelf

Beautiful Plates and Platters

I love lining up my standing paints/inks on these. It’s a nice way to keep everything together, in a way that is visually pleasing. I love shopping for these at antique stores too.

Small Beautiful Bowls

I love using these to store medium sized items like washi tape, erasers and small tube paints. These are also really fun to shop for at antique stores.
